A market for flexibilities is a concept that enables economically efficient trading of geographically distributed flexibilities. In particular, it provides distribution system operators with a powerful solution for sourcing, retrieving and billing flexibilities in their network.
Agder Energi, a Norwegian distribution system operator, has implemented and successfully tested a pilot project based on Microsoft’s cloud technology. Investments in a substation could be avoided in a local network in the supply area of Agder Energi.
The five largest distribution system operators in East Germany have joined forces to develop a common positioning for an efficient and sustainable market for flexibility services and have asked E-Bridge to work with corporate representatives to develop the appropriate cornerstones. The aim was to develop a holistic concept of a flexibility market, including product description, market mechanism and interfaces to other markets.
The final report also serve as a discussion with policymakers with the aim of including the main cornerstones of the future regulatory framework.
The project was carried out in close cooperation with employees of all participating companies, e.g. in half-day workshops, in which papers on individual topics were presented and discussed.
