How do we make the gas grid fit for the future? That was the focus of our first major workshop on the gas grid transformation strategy in Reutlingen, together with the FairNetz team – Mona Keller, Dieter Krauss, Martin Hermle, and Marc Veeser.

Representing E-Bridge Consulting: Dr. Philipp Heuser and Lorenz Valk – actively engaged in discussions on future scenarios for CH₄ & H₂ in the grid area, realistic network utilization & potential decommissioning, and the key question: “What does this mean concretely for the region?”

The background of the project is the multitude of upcoming challenges for gas network operators, such as ambitious climate targets & expected declining gas consumption, volatile markets, political-regulatory uncertainty, and the slow ramp-up of the hydrogen economy.

Network operators must make decisions today – for a future still full of question marks!

Our answer as the Hydrogen & Gas Competence Team at E-Bridge:

  • sound scenarios & grid analyses, tailored to each specific grid area
  • realistic transformation pathways with a clear target vision for gas networks
  • strategic, technically and economically well-considered options ranging from H₂ core networks to biogas islands to potential decommissioning

The kick-off workshop with FairNetz was intense, productive, and full of energy. Now it’s time to get down to business: prioritizing subnetworks, concretizing target visions, and developing courses of action.

Many thanks to the entire FairNetz team for such a strong start. We look forward to the next steps together!
