Efficiency of Market-Based System Services: E-Control Publishes Report on Joint Study with E-Bridge and ef.Ruhr

Our study on the efficiency of market-based procurement of non-frequency ancillary services (nfAS) in Austria has now been published! The aim of the study was to analyze whether, and under what conditions, market-based procurement of certain nfAS is economically efficient – both today and up to 2030. This analysis is an important building block for the implementation of the Electricity Market Directive (EU) 2019/944, which generally stipulates market-based procurement but allows exemptions if economic efficiency is lacking.

We had the opportunity to present the key findings at E-Control in Vienna: our colleague Gerald Blumberg presented the results together with Marco Greve from ef.Ruhr.

We are delighted to have contributed to the implementation of the Electricity Market Directive and to the further development of approaches to procuring nfAS in Austria with this project. A heartfelt thank you to E-Control for their trust and constructive cooperation, as well as to Marco Greve and Friederike Berger from ef.Ruhr for the partnership-based collaboration!
