The electrification and the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy will mean fundamental changes for many areas of the energy industry. It was unclear to what extent ENTEGA’s current business models will be affected by the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy and which new business models should be tackled in a focused manner at an early stage (and which should be left out or given lower priority). Together with E-Bridge, ENTEGA AG therefore wanted to develop its strategic positioning in the hydrogen sector.
The aim of the project was to work out the main opportunities and challenges of hydrogen for ENTEGA AG’s current and future potential business models. Therefore, current market findings and trends in the context of the hydrogen economy should have been illuminated and analysed transparently. A special focus was on the grid, generation, and distribution.
ENTEGA AG should gain a clear view of the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy and be able to align itself strategically at an early stage in such a way that the opportunities of the ramp-up can be used in the best possible way and the preparations for overcoming the challenges can be made as early as possible.
As a result, a recommendation for the strategic positioning of ENTEGA AG has been derived. As far as necessary, different scenarios were used as a basis to consider the partly still unclear framework conditions. This has enabled ENTEGA AG to assess the uncertainties of various business models and to choose the most robust strategic positioning possible.
