Large-scale battery storage systems can make a central contribution to a stable, flexible, and future-proof energy system, provided that the right framework conditions are in place from both a grid and market perspective. This was exactly the focus of the intensive exchange at an event organized by Bayernwerk AG. Our Managing Director, Dr. Henning Schuster, had the pleasure of accompanying the dialogue as both a speaker and moderator.
The grid connection of battery storage systems has been developing very dynamically for months. The discussions made one thing particularly clear: the industry is in a shared learning process. Open dialogue between grid operators, storage operators, and other stakeholders is essential in order to jointly work toward the vision of a “Storage State of Bavaria.” The current situation was assessed, key challenges were identified, and concrete solution approaches were developed.
Particularly relevant topics that emerged included greater planning certainty for all parties involved, clear and harmonized standards, and the step-by-step introduction of more dynamic connection and operating models. These elements were discussed in depth, as they are crucial for unlocking the system-supportive and reliable potential of large-scale battery storage.
The open exchange and the diversity of perspectives provided valuable impulses. E‑Bridge sees itself as a bridge builder between grid and storage operators, between practice and regulation, and between today’s challenges and tomorrow’s solutions.
Many thanks to Bayernwerk AG for organizing the event, as well as to Dr. Andreas Kießling, Dr. Nick Seeger, Johannes Larsen, Thomas Estermann, Philipp Bühner, and all participants for the constructive dialogue.
