The German federal government is calling for closer cooperation among grid operators. The coalition committee has urged the industry to strengthen collaboration in order to accelerate digitalization and grid expansion. For many grid operators, however, this has long been standard practice.
With the Kooperationsplattform Netz, E-Bridge has been bringing distribution system operators together for more than 20 years. The goal is to develop joint solutions to the key challenges of the energy transition and to share practical experience across the network. In an increasingly complex environment, one thing has become clear: many challenges can be addressed more efficiently through collaboration than in isolation.
Key areas of cooperation include the development of joint software solutions, the harmonization of processes, and the exchange of expertise on regulatory matters. In addition, participating grid operators work together to develop solutions for current and future challenges related to grid connections and grid operations.
Topics such as Redispatch 2.0, Section 14a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG), and the growing demands arising from digitalization and grid expansion highlight the importance of structured knowledge and experience sharing. Collaboration enables operators to use resources more efficiently, spread proven approaches more quickly, and jointly develop sustainable solutions.
While policymakers are now placing greater emphasis on industry-wide cooperation, the sector itself has demonstrated the value of collaborative initiatives for many years.
