GESI Green Energy Storage Initiative SE planned to construct large-scale battery storage systems with an output of up to 1 GW and capacities of up to 2 GWh in Germany. These high outputs required a grid connection at the 380 kV level. A guaranteed grid connection capacity was an essential requirement for the final investment decision.

The process of applying for and receiving grid connection approval required both regulatory and technical expertise, while the necessary forms and information differed between grid operators. E-Bridge supported the entire process chain – from the initial information exchange to the compilation of the application documents and the clarification of technical queries and details with the network operator.

The result of the project was that approvals for grid connection capacities for several GW of battery storage projects were successfully secured. All queries as well as regulatory and technical requirements were addressed, ensuring a smooth and seamless process.
