With the introduction of the capacity market approaching, a wide range of implementation tasks are coming into focus. These include the design of auction and prequalification procedures, the establishment of transparent verification processes, and the development of efficient settlement and operational mechanisms. Only through seamless collaboration among all stakeholders can the capacity market achieve its intended objectives.
At the same time, the timeline is ambitious. Germany’s transmission system operators and the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) are driving implementation at a rapid pace. Key milestones are already planned for 2027, including the launch of central platforms for prequalification and auctions. This makes it all the more important to lay the foundations for robust and scalable processes today.
Against this backdrop, E-Bridge, together with Compass Lexecon, is supporting Amprion GmbH in the preparation and implementation of the capacity market. As part of the project, the teams are providing support in project governance, the Project Management Office (PMO), and the conceptual design of key implementation topics.
The successful project kick-off marked an important first step in the collaboration. The objective is to address upcoming challenges at an early stage and develop practical, sustainable solutions for the implementation of the capacity market.
