Today, our Managing Director Tuncay Tuerkucar had the pleasure of presenting our new study, which we conducted on behalf of AquaVentus, at a press conference. The study shows that an integrated combination of cable and pipeline energy optimizes the use of wind energy and reduces the costs of producing and transporting green hydrogen. In addition, the expansion costs of the transport infrastructure could be reduced and the capacity utilization of renewable energy plants increased at the same time.
What are the advantages of this combination?
- More efficient use of the transport infrastructure for electricity and hydrogen
- Less overcapacity and negative energy prices
- Greater flexibility in the electricity grid and better utilization of offshore wind farms and electrolysers
The combination of pipeline and cable makes it possible to feed renewable energy into the grid exactly when it is needed – and to use surpluses for hydrogen production.
An article on the study was published in the Handelsblatt. You can read it here.
