The E-Bridge report, commissioned by the Dutch Ministry for Climate Policy, examines electricity costs for large and medium-sized industrial companies in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Denmark, the UK, the USA, and China.
The analysis shows that Dutch industrial power costs are high compared to other European countries, mainly due to a lack of exemptions for network charges. France offers the lowest costs thanks to affordable nuclear energy and low grid fees, while industrial consumers Germany and Belgium benefit from extensive exemptions. For medium-sized companies, costs are highest in Germany and the UK. By 2030, costs are expected to decrease in most countries but remain high in the Netherlands unless further relief is introduced. The report provides a detailed overview of all cost components and policy trends through 2030.
