The flexibility of plants is primarily used to reduce electricity procurement costs – this may lead to a further increase in network expansion with current network planning. The idea of FlexPlan is to consider a grid-relieving use of flexibility in network planning in order to reduce overall costs for the customer.
The challenge is to actually be able to exploit the theoretical savings potential. For this purpose, the network operators Avacon, Bayernwerk, E.DIS and Schleswig-Holstein Netz together with E-Bridge have developed a possible planning process with flexibility in the distribution network and applied it in exemplary networks.
