Our colleague Henrik Schwaeppe had the opportunity to present a joint study with Gasunie on Dutch offshore targets at the Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference in Amsterdam. Achieving 30–40 GW by 2040 is only possible if wind areas 6 and 7 are developed. These areas are far offshore, which makes mixed connection concepts – using a combination of hydrogen and electricity – the ideal solution:
- They reduce costs for reaching climate goals
- They enable targets to be met with minimal subsidies; provided the right regulatory framework is in place
A big thank you to TenneT, Gasunie, and TNO for an excellent panel! It was great to reconnect with familiar faces and have inspiring discussions. Special thanks for the engaging panel to:
- Pierre Tardieu (WindEurope)
- Lennard Sijtsma (Guidehouse)
- Rene Peters (TNO)
and to Robert Evers and the Gasunie teamfor the great collaboration and organization.
